Keep Your Data Safe During the Holidays
The holiday season is a time for relaxation, but it's also a period of heightened hacking activity and cyber threats. Stay alert and don't be caught out by fraudsters.
We're reminding you of the main security principles concerning not just company data, but your personal data as well.
Personal Data Protection
1. Avoid public Wi-Fi networks
Public Wi-Fi networks available at airports, hotels, and cafés are easy targets for cybercriminals. Use them only when absolutely necessary and avoid logging into bank accounts or other services that require sensitive data. It's worth considering mobile internet or purchasing a VPN service, which encrypts transmitted data and provides an extra layer of protection.
2. Remember to log out
After using an account on a website, always log out. This is especially important on shared devices such as those in hotel lobbies or public libraries. Even on your own laptop or smartphone it's a good habit to reduce risk in the event of theft.
3. Watch out for phishing!
Be cautious of suspicious emails and text messages that may be attempts to steal your data. Always verify the sender of a message and don't click on links or download attachments from unverified sources.

Protecting Company Data
1. Secure remote work
Employees often connect to company systems from various locations during the holiday period. Make sure they use secure connections and that their devices have up-to-date antivirus software installed.
Remember that in Sugester you can save in your account settings which IP addresses your employees are allowed to log in from. This practice increases security and protects against unauthorised access to the account.
2. Updates and your own backup
Regular software updates help protect your company against cyber threats. In addition, regular data backups enable quick recovery of information in the event of an attack or other failure.
In Sugester you can regularly create your own backups by periodically exporting data such as customers, emails, tasks, activities, and deals.
3. Two-factor login
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security that significantly increases the safety of your online data. It requires two forms of identification before granting account access.
In Sugester, by enabling two-factor authentication, you require users when logging in to provide both something they know (a password) and something they have (a code sent by email or SMS). Even if the password is stolen, without the second element access to the account is impossible.

4. No permission!
Assigning specific roles and permissions ensures that only authorised people have access to sensitive information in your company. This reduces the risk of accidental or intentional disclosure of data to people who shouldn't see it.
In Sugester you decide what information an employee can see in the system by creating an appropriate role for them. You can specify exactly which modules they have access to and even which features they can or cannot use.
5. Strong password
A strong password is the basic element of data protection, as it forms the first line of defence against unauthorised access to systems.
How to create strong passwords?
- A password should be at least 12 characters long.
- Use a combination of lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
- Each password should be unique for each account.
- Don't use information that can be easily guessed, such as your name, date of birth, or username.
In Sugester you can change your password in your user profile settings. Remember not to share your password with third parties or send it in company correspondence.
Each user sets their own password. In special cases, the admin can do it, but the user should still change it immediately after logging in to Sugester. The admin does not have access to users' passwords. Also remember to periodically change your password to ensure only you have access to it.
Follow these principles to minimise the risk of cyberattacks. Remember that cybercriminals don't take holidays, so keeping data secure should be a priority throughout the year.
